Here's a look at what's open and closed in Hamilton over the Easter weekend. 

Groceries, beer and liquor stores

Most grocery, liquor and beer stores will be closed on Friday and Sunday. Store hours vary on Monday, so check with your local store before you head out. 

Since the province has pulled the 'emergency brake' on all public health units in Ontario, restaurants will not be allowed to run indoor or outdoor dining. Take out, delivery and drive thrus are allowed. 

Shopping

Lime Ridge Mall and East Gate Square will be closed on Friday and Sunday, but will be open on Monday.  

Green Cart, Recycling and Garbage Collection

There won't be any green cart, blue box, yard waste, bulk waste, or garbage pick-up on Friday. Pick-up scheduled on that day will happen on Saturday, April 3. 

There will be regular collection on Monday. Waste has to be at the curb by 7 a.m., but the city says curbside pick-up of leaf and yard waste has been suspended until further notice. 

Residents can view their collection schedule online. 

HSR 

The HSR will operate on a Special Holiday Schedule on Friday. 

The following routes won't be running: Routes 9, 10, 12, 16, 18, 20, 42, 51, 52A, and 56.

But on Monday, HSR will return to its regular weekday service. For more information about service changes, visit the city's website or call 905-527-4441.

ATS-DARTS

DARTS will operate on holiday service hours for Friday and Monday. The city says all subscription trips on DARTS, except for dialysis, are cancelled for these days. If people need to travel, the city says, they have to make an advance reservation. 

ATS customer service will be closed on Friday and Monday. 

Library

All Hamilton Public Library branches will be closed on Friday, Sunday and Monday. But branches will be open on Saturday between 1 and 5 p.m. 

Hamilton Farmers' Market Hours   

Hamilton Farmers' Market will be closed on Friday, Sunday and Monday. It will be open on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Public Health Services

The Public Health COVID-19 hotline will remain open at 905-974-9848. People can also get COVID-19 related information online or by emailing public health at phscovid19@hamilton.ca. 

For reports of suspected reportable diseases and food poisoning, residents can call  905-546-2063. 

For reports of environmental spills, fires, or other possible health hazards or safety issues, as well as report of rabies animal exposures and Safe Water Program issues, residents can call 905-546-2489.

City offices 

All City of Hamilton administrative offices will be closed on Friday and Monday. For emergencies involving roads, water mains, sewer systems, public health and safety issues, the city says residents can call 905-546-2489 (CITY).

The licensing and by-law phone queue line at 905-546-2782 will also be closed for the holidays. It will resume on Tuesday at 8:30 am.

Property taxes, parking and traffic violations

For those looking to pay property taxes, municipal service centres will be closed between Friday and Monday. They will reopen on Tuesday, April 6 by appointment only. 

For parking violations, the phone queue line at 905-540-6000 will resume on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. The parking operations and enforcement office located at 80 Main St. W. continues to be closed for payments and disputes until further notice, the city says. 

People wishing to report illegally parked vehicles are asked to call 905-546-CITY.

People wishing to dispute a penalty notice are asked to send their dispute to APS@hamliton.ca, and staff will review the matter once the office reopens on Tuesday. 

For traffic violations, the provincial offences administration office at 50 Main St. E. will be closed on Friday and Monday. It will reopen Tuesday, and appointments are required for in-person transactions. There will be active health screening, the city says. 

People wishing to make payments regarding parking or traffic violations can head to the city's website.

Ontario Works and Housing

The Ontario Works offices, located at 1550 Upper James St. and 250 Main St. E., remain closed for in-person service due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The Ontario Works Program, including the Special Supports Program, will be closed on Friday and Monday. Its phone line at 905-546-4800 will resume on Tuesday at 8:30 am. 

The city's housing service office at 350 King Street East will also be closed between Friday and Monday.
